process & timeline

Transforming Lives Awards piloted a state-of-the-art selection process that utilized Philanthropy University’s online learning platform and included a paticipapry peer-assessment stage.

By adapting the peer assessment tool that is part of Philanthropy University online training courses, we were able to introduce an innovative, technology-enabled participatory element to the pre-application stage. Candidates reviewed and scored between 3 and 5 anonymous longform statements from their peers before their submissions were accepted by the Philanthropy University system. By adopting a participatory mechanism, and using candidates expertise to assist with the scoring process, we were able to invite larger number of applicants to apply, and facilitate the meaningful inclusion of Global-South perspectives to the shortlisting process.
