• Learning To Change The World

Philanthropy University is a free online learning platform that uses technology to train, connect and fund leaders of local social impact organizations in under-resourced communities.

Our Story

All too often, local organizations are designing and delivering the critical solutions that meet our world’s biggest challenges, in the most demanding situations; yet, they do so, as best they can, without any access to improve their capacity and realize their full potential.

Until now.

how it all began

Philanthropy U was named from the Greek word philanthropos, meaning "love of humanity". Our organization was founded by the Al-Dabbagh Group in 2015 and in 2016, our free online learning platform was launched. This initiative builds upon the decade-long legacy of the Stars foundation of strengthening local organizations through capacity building and awards programming. Our unique approach delivers practical learning and support, where it matters most, through world-class online courses, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and funding opportunities.
